Pre- and Post-Treatment Care

Preparing for your appointment and supporting your skin after treatment ensures the best results. Please review the guidelines below and feel free to download any aftercare info you’d like to keep on hand.

Before Your Appointment

To protect your skin and ensure the best outcome:
• Discontinue any retinoids, hydroquinone, acne medications, glycolic or salicylic acid products, and strong exfoliants at least 3 days prior to your appointment.
• This is especially important before chemical peels and waxing.
• Some chemical peels may require avoiding retinoids for up to 4 weeks post-treatment.
• If you are prone to cold sores, take an OTC or prescription antiviral before or immediately after your treatment.

Post-Treatment Care

Dermaplaning

• Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.
• Avoid scrubbing, hot water, and exfoliating tools for 24–48 hours.
• Do not use retinol, salicylic acid, or benzoyl peroxide for 3–5 days.
• Use hydrating toners and serums (Lily will guide you).
• Moisturize morning and evening—balmy, non-comedogenic products work best.
• Apply SPF daily, even on cloudy days.
• Avoid makeup for 24 hours; use clean, mineral-based products if needed.
• Avoid sun, heat, workouts, and saunas for 24–48 hours.
• Wait 7 days before waxing the face.
• Dermaplaning is recommended every 4 weeks.

Microneedling

• Mild redness or tightness is normal and typically subsides within 24–48 hours.
• Flaking or dryness may occur and resolve within 3–5 days.
• Use Lily’s recommended post-care products for 3–5 days (or longer if needed).
• Cleanse with water and a gentle cleanser; pat dry.
• Avoid retinoids and exfoliants for 5–14 days depending on your skin.
• Apply hyaluronic acid and a hydrating moisturizer regularly.
• Avoid makeup for 12 hours post-treatment.
• Stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours.
• Avoid sweating, heat, or exercise for the first 24 hours.
• Use SPF 30+ physical sunscreen if sun exposure is unavoidable.

Chemical Peels

• Avoid heat and sweating for 48 hours.
• Do not wet the skin for at least 8 hours post-treatment.
• Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks or until peeling resolves.
• Always use SPF 30+ mineral sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors.
• Cleanse gently once permitted and moisturize as directed.
• Use post-procedure products as needed to soothe dryness or irritation.
• Do not pick or peel flaking skin.
• Avoid retinoids and exfoliants for 3–5 days post-peel.
• Contact Lily if you experience excessive irritation or sensitivity.

Waxing

• Avoid heat and exfoliation for 12–24 hours.
• Avoid applying retinol, chemical sunscreen, or self-tanner to the area.
• Redness should subside within 6–8 hours.
• For best results, repeat every 4–6 weeks. Brows may need care every 2–3 weeks.

Cryotherapy

• The treated area may darken and feel itchy for a few hours post-treatment.
• Skin will slough over 10 days, revealing healthy pink skin.
• Full healing and pigment return may take 4–6 weeks.
• Keep the area hydrated and protected from the sun.
• A second treatment may be recommended depending on the lesion.
